report of
r 20th, 1924.
With reference to my telegram No. 157 of the 18th November reporting statement made by Sun Yat-sen to a party of journalists who boarded the launch which conveyed him
from the "Shinyo Maru” to the French bund, I have the honour to enclose herewith copy of a report made by a detective of the International Settlement Police who was present. This report tallies closely with that published in the Shen Pao and other Chinese newspapers. It is noteworthy, how- ever, that the report published in the "North China Daily News' of the 18th November, which was supplied by the Eastern News Agency (Japanese), was longer and much more menacing
in tone.
I have also the honour to enclose copy of a Folice Report on a tea party held at Sun Yat-sen's residence, No. 29 Rue Moliere
on the 19th November.

I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
(84) J. I. Pratt,
Acting Consul-General.
